Unvaccinated Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers claims ‘woke culture’ made him a ‘VILLAIN’ over his COVID stance

Packers star Aaron Rodgers tore into ‘woke culture’ and claimed he is treated as a ‘villain’ because of his stance on Covid-19.  

Back in August last year Rodgers admitted that he deliberately tricked the media 12 month earlier by telling them he was ‘immunized’ against Covid, thinking he would no longer get asked about it.

In November 2021, he tested positive for coronavirus and was subsequently required to quarantine for 10 days – the minimum amount of time an unvaccinated player is asked to quarantine, per NFL rules – which caused a stir.

And Rodgers, who is back appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, believes his ongoing stance against Covid has seen him painted as a ‘villain’ by his ‘woke’ critics. 

‘There’s heroes and villains in sports and entertainment, and I think, because of my stance on Covid and maybe some other things, I’ve been cast as the villain. Especially the last few years,’ Rodgers said.

‘And so, that is the way that a lot of things I say are often interpreted.’

Rodgers was not done there. 

‘This woke culture wants to be offended by everything,’ he added. 

‘You just go online and find something you don’t agree with. “I’m offended! How can you possibly say that?” I don’t really care. I don’t care who it’s coming from or who said it.’ 

The four-time NFL MVP repeatedly said he could not care less what people thing of him and that he is never ‘offended’ by criticisms levelled against him.

Rodgers has never been afraid to speak his mind and he repeatedly hit out at the NFL’s health and safety protocols for unvaccinated players, something he likened at the end of 2021 to a ‘two-class system’.

Those remarks also came on the Pat McAfee Show. 

At one time he also promoted the debunked treatment of ivermectin for Covid.

There is lots of attention on Rodgers right now after the Green Bay Packers missed the playoffs following a 8-9 season. 

Rodgers, who has two years left on his three-year deal that’s reportedly worth more than $150million, has, according to ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, a ‘real possibility’ of being traded away this offseason.

His contract makes that prospect a tall and expensive task, however.

Aside from the noted cap charge of over $30m for the upcoming NFL season there are options to extend Rodgers’ deal for 2025 and 2026 that carry cap charges of $59.302m and $53.452m respectively if he remains in Green Bay.

If a team were to trade for Rodgers before the contract or the options in his deal are reworked the team trading for him would take on cap charges of $32.5m in 2024, $51.10m in 2025, and $45.53m in 2026. 

‘All the other ideas about [a] trade and whatnot, that’s all conjecture until I decide what I want to do moving forward for myself,’ he said. 

‘I hope there’s some gratitude on both sides if that happens. But, again, that doesn’t open the door for any conjecture, honestly, on my side. And I’m not saying that to be cryptic. I’ve got to figure out what I want to do, and then we’ll see where all the parties at and what kind of transpires after that.’
