Top black doctor slams woke ‘implicit bias training’ that’s overwhelmed medical field and says her black colleagues and patients should NOT be told that all white medics are ‘inherently racist’

A top black doctor has slammed woke ‘implicit bias training’ infiltrating the modern medical field – which threatens the careers of experienced physicians if they don’t comply with the racism re-education course. 

Marilyn Singleton, a leading physician with 50 years experience in the medical field, hit out at the mandated training being pushed on doctors in states across the US. 

In an opinion piece for the Washington Post, Singleton said she was ‘appalled’ to be told she needed the training, which she refuses to take. 

‘Racial obsession has come rushing back — in academia, politics, business and even in my beloved medical profession,’ she wrote. 

‘The malignant false assumption that Black people are inherently inferior intellectually has been traded in for the malignant false assumption that White people are inherently racist.’

Woke ‘implicit bias’ training has been forced on medical professionals in several states in recent years, including California, Maryland, Michigan and Washington. 

In California, Singleton’s home state, medics are mandated to undergo 50 hours of ‘continuing medical education’ every two years, and those that refuse are threatened with having their license revoked. 

But Singleton is among those fighting back against the re-education initiative, arguing that she rejects ‘the unscientific accusation that people are defined by their race, not by their individual beliefs and choices.’ 

The leading doctor is a visiting fellow from the medical organization Do No Harm, and previously served as President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) after graduating from Stanford and UCSF Medical School. 

Noting her 50 years of experience, she said the ideological training should be particularly offensive to black physicians such as herself, who battled to obtain her medical degree in 1973 ‘in a class of mostly white men’. 

Singleton argues that the course suggests white colleagues are driven by an implicit racist bias ‘beneath the surface, threatening to rear its ugly, racist head’.  

‘Black people are, in effect, being told that White physicians are likely to quite literally damage our health,’ she continued.  

‘If that’s the case, why on earth would you seek medical care, unless you could be absolutely certain of not being treated by a white physician? 

‘And if you do seek medical care, why wouldn’t you doubt every word from a white doctor who is inherently prejudiced against you?’

Despite its apparent intention to help black patients, the leading medic said it may be having the opposite effect, because the proposal instead ‘fosters a climate of distrust and resentment that threatens to undermine the medical and moral progress I’ve seen over the decades.’ 

‘When I graduated from medical school, we were moving past the era of racial obsession and anger. 

‘Why are we going back to the days when race defined so many lives and dimmed so many futures?’

Singleton previously ran for Congress in 2012 as an independent candidate, where she argued against the Affordable Care Act and said ‘something had to be done to improve healthcare delivery in our country.’

Prior to her unsuccessful run for California’s 13th Congressional District, she also attended law school and worked at the National Health Law Project.  

Singleton is among a growing chorus of medical workers who are refusing to take the training course, a decision that threatens her medical license despite her 50 year career in the field

A growing number of people in the medical field are fighting back against the woke training course, after some were kicked out of their careers for rejecting it. 

Last year, Texas nurse Laura Morgan was terminated from her job after she refused to take the training, which she says was designed to pit her against her colleagues and patients on the basis of their race. 

Morgan, who is a program manager for Singleton’s organization Do No Harm, spoke out after she was fired for refusing to attend the course. 

‘This type of training and other radical ideologies that are infiltrating health care, are really causing divisiveness between the relationship of trust between doctors and nurses and their patients,’ she told Fox News. 

She added that the ‘degrading’ course forced healthcare workers to ‘look at their patients through an ideological lens instead of a clinical one’.
