White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to directly answer if the Biden administration was anticipating more bank failures following the collapse of First Republic last week.
Jean-Pierre was asked if the White House expects more banks to fail after the defunct First Republic bank was bought up by JP Morgan Chase over the weekend.
“Is this it? Are you bracing for more banks to fail?” a reporter asked Jean-Pierre on Monday.
Jean-Pierre deflected: “The American people…can continue to have confidence…No taxpayer dollars will be used to facilitate this action.”

First Republic’s collapse marks the second biggest bank collapse in U.S. history with a loss of nearly $100 billion in deposits.
It was also the third major regional bank to be seized by the FDIC in recent weeks after Signature Bank and Silicon Valley Bank imploded in March.
Jean-Pierre also lied about Biden’s disastrous open-border policy and failed to mention a recent mass shooting in Texas was committed by an illegal alien, instead calling for more gun control.
