“Yellowstone” star Kelly Reilly hinted that the love her character Beth Dutton has finally found with her on-screen love interest Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, isn’t meant to last.
The 46-year-old actress, who plays the wild daughter of Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton, said in a recent interview that she has often disagreed with “Yellowstone” co-creator and writer Taylor Sheridan when it comes to her character and that she’s basically in the dark about the character’s storyline.
“Beth is haunted by her past,” Reilly said in a behind-the-scenes clip on the Blu-ray and DVD release of “Yellowstone” season 5, part one, per Insider.com. “She has a lot of regrets, and she has a lot of secrets that he doesn’t know. So there is something that is under the surface that will one day, I’m sure, come, and she’s probably certain that she will lose him.”

“I’m coming to it almost the same as the audience,” she added. “I mean, I have my hopes and thoughts for the character. Also, as I’ve played her for over five years now, I feel like I know her so well, but I’m still learning.”
“There are still things that I read and I didn’t expect, or sometimes I wish for something else for her, but that’s the same as the audience,” Reilly continued. “We’re all sort of beholden to the vision of the storyteller and we serve the story. Who knows what’s going to happen? I find that exciting as an actor.”

Beth, who has been played by Reilly since the Paramount network series premiered in 2018, finally tied the knot with Hauser’s character at the end of season 4 following the pair’s long-standing off-and-on relationship throughout the years.
The hit series is set to come to an end at the conclusion of the second half of season 5 following a contract dispute between Costner and Paramount. The show was previously scheduled to air in summer 2023, but with the ongoing strike among writers and actors with the studios, it is likely the end of the season won’t happen until next year.
