Actress Gwyneth Paltrow had some fun with singer Katy Perry when she warned the young mother that young kids can ruin a marriage and that it’s “hard on a relationship.”
During the 50-year-old actress’ latest “Goop” podcast, the host was speaking with her guest, 38-year-old pop singer Perry, about how everything changes when children enter the picture in a relationship. Perry is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom and the two share 2-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom.
“It’s hard on a relationship,” Paltrow explained. “Like, I’ve looked back now on, like, the data set of parents with young kids and it just … ruins the relationship.”
The host added with a laugh, “It’s really hard!”
The “Dark Horse” hitmaker admitted that the dynamics of a relationship do change when kids come into the picture.
However, she slightly disagreed, saying, “I think if both people in the relationship are willing to do the work then it’s going to be so much easier.”

“But if one person thinks they don’t have any work to do then it’s going to be really challenging,” Perry added.
Paltrow shares two teens with her ex-husband Chris Martin, daughter Apple, 18, and son Moses, 16. She’s now married to Brad Falchuk, 51, who also co-parents two kids from his previous marriage.
Despite Paltrow’s comments, she shared earlier in the show that being a mom has been incredibly rewarding.
“I never felt lonely again after I had her [Apple] … and I had felt profoundly lonely in my life,” Paltrow shared.
Perry admitted that she dealt with similar feelings and she “felt really lost” before Daisy.
The “Roar” hitmaker said she always felt that everything she did “was not enough” until she became a mom and felt that unconditional love for her daughter.
The pop star revealed in 2022 that she and Bloom left Hollywood to raise their daughter in Kentucky, as previously reported.
“I’m like, living in Kentucky, and I have for almost a month now,” Perry shared. “And that’s quite an amazing experience. Because it reminds you that Hollywood is not America.”
