Daily Wire Uses Trump Town Hall to Make False Statements, Shill for DeSantis

The writers at the Daily Wire were not pleased that President Trump had a successful CNN Town Hall. Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro criticized both Trump and CNN. Daily Wire Senior Writer Ryan Saavedra tweeted and then deleted a false statement that Trump was “wrecked by Kaitlan Collins.” Shapiro’s Daily Wire has a long history of anti-Trumpism and has even sided with the DNC and FBI over Trump. Unsurprisingly, Team DeSantis is paying the Daily Wire for “positive press coverage”

Following Trump’s Town Hall Shapiro tweeted, “This townhall hits everybody’s pleasure centers: CNN gets to broadcast outrage over the oh-so-troubling Trump; Trump gets to shellack a CNN host. The only people who lose out are those who were hoping for, you know, some serious answers to serious questions.”

Following that tweet, Shapiro began retweeting extremely questionable polling from Team DeSantis that had DeSantis polling better than Trump.

In a now-deleted tweet, Daily Wire Senior Writer Ryan Saavedra tweeted, “Trump is getting absolutely wrecked by Kaitlan Collins. Keep in mind, Trump thought this town hall was a good idea.”

Following his deleted tweet, Saavedra, like Shapiro, also began retweeting extremely questionable polling from Team DeSantis that had DeSantis polling better than Trump.

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh Show made no mention of the Trump Town Hall, which is odd considering the Matt Walsh Show is a news show and Trump’s Town Hall was the biggest news item of the week.

Trump hate, however, is nothing new for the Daily Wire.

In 2018 Ben Shapiro took the DNC and FBI’s side over President Trump, writing a factually incorrect article titled “No, The DNC Isn’t Hiding Its Servers From The FBI To Create A False Narrative Of Russian Hacking.” Shapiro did not vote for Trump in 2016 and has recently said that he believes “DeSantis will be a better president than Trump.”

Team DeSantis is paying the Daily Wire hundreds of thousands of dollars for “positive press coverage.” The Daily Wire has proven to be no friend to the America First Movement.
