Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is really making a name for himself on a national level, likely much to his eventual regret. After convincing a grand jury to bring preposterous charges against Donald Trump, Bragg had to find something to keep himself busy until Tuesday, and a New York garage attendant named Moussa Diarra offered him that opportunity. Diarra was working the overnight shift yesterday when he spotted Charles Rhodie rooting around the garage with a bag, apparently attempting to steal some of the tools and equipment in the garage. Diarra confronted Rhodie and demanded to inspect the bag. Instead of complying, Rhodie pulled a gun from the bag and shot Diarra twice, once in the stomach, with the second shot grazing his head. Despite his injuries, Diarra wrested the gun away from Rhodie and shot him in return. So what did Bragg do about it? Obviously, he charged the garage attendant with attempted murder. (NY Post)
A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police and sources said.
The overnight worker, identified by cops as Moussa Diarra, 57, was also hit with assault and criminal possession of a weapon charge in the Saturday incident, which unfolded around 5:30 a.m. as the attendant saw a man peering into cars on the second floor of the West 31st Street garage, the sources said.
Believing the man was stealing, the attendant brought him outside and asked what was inside his bag.
This is just par for the course when it comes to Bragg’s office. This incident is reminiscent of bodega operator Jose Alba, who wound up shooting a crazed man who attacked him with a knife behind the counter of his store. Bragg charged Alba with murder in that case, though the charges were eventually dropped.
To his (very minimal) credit, Bragg’s office also charged Charles Rhodie with attempted murder, but that’s really not the point here. The Soros-funded DA has established a long record of turning a blind eye to serious criminals, putting as many back out on the street as he can manage. He has one of the worst conviction rates of any DA in the country on the rare occasions that he actually takes criminals to trial.
Meanwhile, he seeks to make an example of any working-class citizens who dare to try to protect themselves from criminals. And he loves to handle cases that will endear him with the anti-cop leftists in the city, as we’ve recently seen with the Trump indictment. Meanwhile, the streets of Gotham are littered with the bodies of victims of violent crime and homeless people overdosing on fentanyl.
None of this is happening by accident. While running for office, Bragg made his priorities clear. He promised to join Attorney General Letitia James in her quest to find something – anything – to charge Donald Trump and every possible member of his family with. Neither of them had any interest in taming the rising surge in crimes of all types that erupted after the passage of supposed “bail reform” laws and the defund the police movement. And that’s precisely what he’s done.
Bragg eventually backed down on charging Jose Alba. Perhaps he will do the same with Moussa Diarra after a sufficient amount of public outrage is generated. But this man has no business being in charge of any sort of law enforcement activity. The Governor of New York is empowered by the state constitution to remove District Attorneys from office if they refuse to correctly perform their jobs and she’s already held one private meeting with Alvin Bragg about this. If Kathy Hochul has a shred of professional responsibility left in her system, she should remove Bragg before Donald Trump even shows up to be charged.
