BALTIMORE (TCD) — Maryland State Police apprehended a man suspected of killing his sister-in-law and her daughter with an ax in her New Jersey home last week.
On Wednesday, April 19, at around noon, officers from the Roselle Police Department in New Jersey went to a home on the 200 block of West 7th Avenue after receiving a call about two missing persons. Police searched the home and located 45-year-old Keisha Morrison and her 9-year-old daughter, Kelsey, deceased. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office said their autopsies determined they both died by homicide.
One day later, on April 20, Maryland State Police announced troopers conducted a “high-risk felony traffic stop” on Everoy Morrison, saying he was driving a silver 7-series BMW that had been reported stolen. The vehicle reportedly was taken from Keisha Morrison’s home in Roselle.
Maryland State Police said they arrested Everoy Morrison on charges related to the stolen car and he will be extradited to New Jersey.
According to WABC-TV, Everoy lived in Keisha’s basement. Keisha’s husband, Gary Morrison, is Everoy’s half-brother.
WABC reports Keisha and Gary Morrison’s other daughters told their father they saw blood in Kelsey’s bedroom, and he went to investigate. Gary reportedly discovered a bloody ax, as well as Keisha and Kelsey’s bodies wrapped in sheets and hidden under a bed.
Kelsey’s 10th birthday would have been April 23.
