LEBANON, Ind. (TCD) — A jury convicted a 42-year-old man this week of killing three people by shooting them all in the head inside an apartment in 2021.
According to the Lebanon Reporter, Chad Grimball was convicted of three counts of murder and carrying a handgun without a license for fatally shooting 42-year-old Larry “Beeker” Stogsdill, 20-year-old Brannon Martin, and 19-year-old Grace Bishop. Martin was Stogsdill’s son and Bishop was Martin’s fiancée.
They were all shot with a .40 caliber handgun.
Lebanon Police responded to 403 E. Walnut St. on Sept. 8, 2023, after receiving reports about three deceased individuals. Police said they all died from a single gunshot wound and their manner of death was homicide. Police served an arrest warrant on Grimball on Dec. 8, 2021, though he had already been in custody since October for a firearm-related offense.
The three victims were shot in the head due to an ongoing feud with one of the victims and Grimball’s friend, according to WXIN-TV.
The Lebanon Reporter says Grimball and his girlfriend discarded the gun following the shooting and burned his clothing.
Prosecutors argued Grimball worked alongside a man in jail named Johnathon Thompson, who abused Stogsdill’s daughter, and the three victims got into a fight with Thompson. He reportedly said the victims told other inmates lies about Thompson, so he asked Grimball to “make your presence known” at the Walnut Street apartment.
Grimball reportedly told Thompson shortly before the killings, “I’m fixing to rid you of your problems.”
Grimball will be sentenced Sept. 26.
