CHICAGO (TCD) — A search intensified to find a 35-year-old former pro football player after his mother, who was also missing, was found dead in a creek over the weekend.
According to WGN-TV, family members reported Sergio Brown and Myrtle Brown missing to the Maywood Police Department on Saturday, Sept. 16, after not hearing from them. Myrtle Brown was later found deceased in a creek near her home.
Her body was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, which identified her cause of death as “multiple injuries assault.” Her manner of death is homicide.
Myrtle Brown’s sister, Sheila Simmons, told WGN, “We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text messages. People have been reaching out to her since Friday. No one was able to reach her.”
Simmons last spoke with Brown on Thursday, Sept. 14.
NBC Chicago reports Sergio Brown played in the NFL as defensive back between 2010 and 2016 for the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
