ATMORE, Ala. (TCD) — A 52-year-old father was arrested and charged earlier this week after his 2-year-old child was left in a vehicle unattended and later died.
On Monday, Feb. 27, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Shawn Rounsavall brought his 2-year-old to the hospital, and the child was later pronounced dead, WEAR-TV reports. Upon further investigation, Atmore Police reportedly learned Rounsavall went to the child’s day care to pick up the victim but learned the child was never dropped off that morning.
Police told WEAR, “The father then discovered the child in the back seat of the vehicle and rushed to the hospital.”
Rounsavall was arrested on Monday, Feb. 27 at 7:15 p.m. and was booked into the Escambia County Jail for reckless murder, records show. He is being held without bond.
