VANCOUVER, Wash. (TCD) — An 8-year-old boy who had been missing since June 2022 was found alive and safe in Missouri last week following a months-long search for him.
The FBI’s Seattle office announced Tuesday that Breadson John was “successfully recovered” Friday, Feb. 17, in Joplin County, Missouri.
According to an FBI missing person bulletin, on June 17, 2022, the Vancouver Police Department conducted a welfare check at Breadson’s home “based on concerns for his welfare voiced by members of the community.” Officers, however, could not find Breadson, who also uses the named Brxsan.
Breadson was born in Hawaii and had ties to Arizona, Washington, and the Truk/Chuuk Islands in the Federated States of Micronesia, according to the FBI.
The 8-year-old reportedly lived with his grandparents, and WDAF-TV reports Vancouver Police said in January detectives “have attempted to contact multiple family members to determine if Breadson is with family or is truly missing.”
The relatives, however, “have not provided investigators information related to the whereabouts of Breadson and he has not been located.”
His grandparents, who are his guardians, have been charged with custodial interference.
According to KOIN-TV, officials from Washington Child Protective Services are picking him up in Missouri and bringing him back to Washington.
Special Agent in Charge of Seattle’s FBI office Richard Collodi said, “Breadson’s recovery would not have been possible without the combined efforts of the Vancouver Police Department, FBI Kansas City, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. We are relieved at this outcome and how quickly we were able to resolve it.”
