MIAMI (TCD) — An 18-year-old woman is charged with soliciting murder after she allegedly attempted to hire a hit man on a parody website to kill her 3-year-old son.
According a police report cited by NBC Miami, Jazmin Paez allegedly contacted someone on the website rentahitman.com and asked for someone to kill her young soon almost immediately. Paez reportedly sent photos of her son to the site and shared where exactly he would be on the day of the hit.
CBS Miami reports Paez reached out to administrators for rentahitman.com Tuesday, July 18, and requested the action be done by Thursday, July 20. She reportedly said she would pay $3,000.
Robert Innes, the man who runs the parody site, told NBC Miami he tried reaching out to officials at the Miami-Dade Police Department, but they kept referring him to CrimeStoppers. CrimeStoppers USA reportedly told Innes they would issue a cease-and-desist letter if he kept contacting them. Eventually, investigators from the Miami-Dade Police Department arrested Paez.
The Associated Press reports Paez requested her son be “taken away, far, far, far away and possibly be killed but ASAP.”
The boy lives with his grandmother and Paez lived with her until May.
Court records show Paez was arrested July 18 on charges of first-degree solicitation of murder and using communication device for unlawful use.
People reaching out to rentahitman.com has resulted in several arrests, including an Air National Guardsman in April who allegedly sent his résumé to the site.
The website includes fake testimonials, including one woman who wrote, “Caught my husband cheating with the babysitter and our relationship was terminated after a free public relations consultation. I’m single again and looking to mingle. Thanks Guido and RENT-A-HITMAN!”
