A massive fire erupted at an oil depot after it was targeted by Ukrainian drones in Crimea, according to Russian authorities.
Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhayev posted video of the blaze at the oil storage facility to Telegram on Friday.
“All security and rescue services are on the scene. The area of the fire is about 1,000 square meters,” Razvozhayev wrote, adding no civilians were injured or killed.
He also claimed two other drones in the area had been either shot down or deactivated before they could cause further damage.
From the Associated Press:
Razvozhayev said the fire at the city’s harbor was assigned the highest ranking in terms of how complicated it will be to extinguish. However, he reported that the open blaze had been contained.
Razvozhayev said the oil depot was attacked by “two enemy drones,” and four oil tanks burned down. A third drone was shot down from the sky, and one more was deactivated through radio-electronic means, according to Crimea’s Moscow-appointed governor, Sergei Aksyonov.

“‘There is no threat to civilian infrastructure,’ the governor later added from the scene, confirming there were no casualties or injuries. The authorities urged people to remain calm as at least 60 firefighters, 18 engines, and a fire train worked to tackle the blaze,” RT reported.
This comes amid an expected counteroffensive by the Ukrainian military following its recent defeat at Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, now occupied by the Russians.
“Preparations are being finalized,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said at a news conference Friday.
Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 following the Soros-backed Maidan coup that resulted in the installation of Western-friendly Petro Poroshenko as Ukraine’s president.
