Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord, 15, reveals suffering PTSD and panic attacks after car accident with drunk driver while heading to set: ‘Was incredibly challenging for me’

Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord has detailed her road to recovery after being involved in a car accident with a drunk driver while heading to set.

The 15-year-old actress recently took to Instagram to make the revelation while explaining that she had suffered PTSD and had panic attacks after the scary incident.

In the post Revord shared a series of snaps from set including her sitting in the passenger seat of a police car with the gallery ending with her mother’s Tesla showing the air bags had been deployed after their accident.

She explained in the caption:  ‘Tonight’s episode was incredibly challenging for me to film, personally. 

‘On the way to work my mom and I were t-boned by a driver driving under the influence. The irony here is I’m pretty much in a car for this entire episode, but you know what they say, “you gotta get back on the saddle”. And that’s not to say it wasn’t difficult.’

Revord went on to talk about the toll the event has taken on her mental health while also revealing that the cast and crew has helped her so much along the way.

She wrote: ‘I had full blown panic attacks and PTSD for weeks after the accident and the only way I was able to get through it was because of the most loving and supporting cast and crew. 

‘They checked in with me along the way and never made me feel like finishing filming was a priority, that my well being came first. With that said, I hope you enjoy tonight’s episode. 

‘When I read the script I remember being so excited to film it and being even more excited to film it with my friend (who was also instrumental in getting me through some of those tough times- love you Kenny) [red heart emoji]’

Revord portrays Melissa ‘Missy’ Cooper in the CBS sitcom  who is the younger twin sister to titular character Sheldon Lee Cooper (Iain Armitage).

Missy is not as intelligent as Sheldon but is very perceptive and considers him a confidant despite not always getting along.

Young Sheldon is a spin-off prequel to highly-popular CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory as Courtney Henggeler played the adult version of Revord’s character.

She began her career in 2015 as she starred in short films Tortoise and Jia and also starred in one episode of television series W/Bob And David.

Revord landed the gig on Young Sheldon which began airing in 2017 and has starred on all six seasons.
