The Bachelor: Zach Shallcross proposes to Kaitlyn ‘Kaity’ Biggar on Thailand beach during finale

Zach Shallcross dropped to a knee and proposed to Kaitlyn ‘Kaity’ Biggar during the season finale of The Bachelor that aired on Monday on ABC.

The 26-year-old Orange County, California native before proposing to Kaity, 27, sent home Gabriella ‘Gabi’ Elnicki, 25, after breaking his no-sex rule with her in the Fantasy Suite.

‘Kaity, will you marry me?,’  asked Zach, who was dubbed the ‘boring Bachelor’ at the start of his season.

‘Absolutely,’ Kaity answered before they started kissing on a beach in Thailand.

‘We’re engaged!,’ Kaity yelled as she held up her huge sparkling engagement ring by jeweler Neil Lane.

‘Look at that rock!,’ Zach said.

‘It’s very nice,’ Kaity said.

Zach then offered Kaity his final rose and she accepted.

They drank champagne on the beach and boarded a small boat that carried them away.

The three-hour season 27 finale showed pre-recorded segments in Thailand in which Kaity and Gabi met Zach’s family and live segments in Los Angeles with host Jesse Palmer, 44.

Jesse opened the finale by acknowledging the tragic shooting in Nashville.

‘Now, before we get started, as we were preparing for the show tonight, we heard about the tragic events that unfolded in Nashville, and we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and to all of the people of Nashville during this very trying time,’ Jesse said.

The show then proceeded with Ariel Frenkel, 28, of New York City, meeting Zach live in front of a studio audience after she was eliminated on last week’s episode.

Zach confessed to Gabi and Kaity that he broke his vow of not having sex in the Fantasy Suite, but did not tell Ariel who found out by watching on TV.

‘I’m really hurt. It really hurts to find everything out on TV, when everyone else does, with a partner that you have shared so many intimate moments with. I was really disappointed in the way the whole week was handled. I was disappointed in the way that I was left completely not knowing anything from Zach,’ Ariel said.

Zach apologized to Ariel and said there was no excuse for his behavior.

The finale then returned to pre-recorded events in Thailand where Zach reunited with his family, including his parents Megan and Chapman and sisters Payton and Sammy.

Kaity met Zach’s family first and gushed about him to Megan.

‘He’s an amazing guy, truly. Like, truly. I feel so safe, so secure with him. He is there for me. And I haven’t had that. And, like, you know, we haven’t had, like, the smoothest ride. I mean, there is another woman here, too,’ Kaity said as she got emotional.

Zach’s sisters asked if she was prepared in case things went ‘sour’.

‘t would be heartbreaking and it would very tough, obviously. I honestly didn’t think that I could find somebody so amazing. I just want him to be happy and follow his heart,’ Kaity said.

Kaity told Chapman that she was ‘very in love’ with Zach and they hugged.

Zach and Kaity had a date in a Thai forest.

‘It scares me because I don’t know what’s going to happen,’ Kaity admitted.

Gabi and Zach went on a beach date that many viewers watched in silence as the network broadcast was having audio difficulties.

They got cozy on the beach and Zach admitted that he had a ‘very tough decision to make.’

‘I can see what’s coming. I’m sick of self-doubt, I’m sick of feeling like I don’t know if I’m enough?,’ Gabi said in a confessional.

Gabi asked what he needed and Zach said he was still trying to figure it out.

‘He’s also falling in love with Kaity. He leaves with a full heart and one of us leaves with a heart broken,’ Gabi said.

‘Oh, f*** no. That’s a really muddy spot. Y’all shouldn’t pull in right there. When it actually matters, when Kaity arrives, don’t do that to her,’ Gabi said.

Jesse greeted Gabi and asked how she was feeling.

‘Like I just know what’s about to happen,’ Gabi said.

Jesse wished her the ‘best of luck’, but Gabi wasn’t feeling it.

‘I have a gut feeling, and I think if it were me, I’d know that it was me,’ she said.

‘I know. You don’t have to say it,’ Gabi told him.

Zach kept going with his breakup speech, but Gabi again asked him to stop.

‘I’m sorry,’ Zach said.

‘It’s fine. I knew it was coming. I’ve known it was coming. What I don’t know is why you wouldn’t tell me when you knew,’ Gabi said.

Zach denied knowing beforehand that Kaity was the one he’d choose.

‘I don’t need it. I don’t need an apology. I don’t need it. I don’t want it, and I don’t need it. I really do wish nothing but the best for you,’ Gabi said.

Zach said bye to Gabi before she climbed into a vehicle and was driven away.

Gabi then appeared on the live show and an audience member shouted, ‘We love you, Gabi!’

Jesse said their breakup was ‘heartbreaking’ to watch.

Gabi blasted Zach for sharing their decision to get intimate and said she felt ashamed.

‘I wish you had just sent me home and save me all the pain that just went on and on,’ Gabi said.

Zach admitted that he was ‘completely wrong’ and said he had no intention of hurting Gabi.

Gabi still looked hurt as Jesse said they were pressed for time.

‘I know you will find the love of your life very soon,’ Jesse assured Gabi.

Tears flowing: ‘I don’t really care to talk about it. I just want to go f***ing home. So stupid. That was f***ing humiliating. I’ve been strung along now this entire f***ing time, for what?,’ Gabi said in the car. ‘What really pisses me off is that I f***ing knew. When your gut speaks, you should listen to it’

Kaity in a white sleeveless dress with a high slit was then shown in Thailand being greeted by Jesse.

‘I’ve been literally waiting years for this moment,’ Kaity said.

Zach did a bit of misdirection and told Kaity that he can no longer say he’s falling in love with her as she looked worried.

‘Because, Kaity Lane, I am so in love with you, and I can’t …you are my world. The love I feel for you is something I could have never imagined, and something I thought a lot of my life I would never be able to deserve,’ Zach said.

He then declared that Kaity was his ‘best friend’ before proposing to her.

Zach and Kaity were then shown in front of the live audience and revealed they were going to spend some time in New York together.

‘But right after, I’m packing up all of my stuff, and heading out to Austin. We are moving in together this summer,’ said Zach, who worked as a sales account executive in Austin before joining The Bachelor franchise.

Zach said they are considering getting married in 2025.

Jesse congratulated Zach and Kaity and then shared a sneak peek of the upcoming season of The Bachelorette starring Charity Lawson, 26, of Columbus, Georgia.

The clip showed Charity about to meet her suitors for the first time and Jesse revealed that the first man she was going to meet was somebody she already knew.

Charity was shocked when her older brother Nehemiah stepped out of the limo and Nehemiah revealed that he was going to be in disguise as ‘undercover brother’ looking out for her.

The Bachelorette will premiere on June 26 on ABC.
