Sex and The City’s Kim Cattrall had ‘NO CONTACT’ with cast while filming spinoff cameo in ‘garage’ after ugly public feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, reveals co-star Evan Handler

Kim Cattrall reportedly had ‘no contact with anybody’ in the cast while shooting her upcoming cameo in And Just Like That…, the Sex and The City spinoff.

Her co-star Evan Handler, 62, revealed that 66-year-old Cattrall shot the cameo in a ‘garage’ as he shared his reaction to her return as the iconic Samantha Jones. 

‘Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody, so the only place I have to welcome her is into my living room when it airs on television,’ he told People. 

Handler — famous for his portrayal of Harry Goldenblatt on the show — also shared that he learned of her return the same time as everyone else: ‘I learned it the same day you did.’

Handler added of her return, ‘I think it is great. I do.’ 

Despite coming back to the series, it doesn’t seem like the rift between her and Parker will be healed anytime soon.

It was revealed earlier this week that the cameo will feature Cattrall’s character speak to Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) on the phone in the season 2 finale, according to People. 

Cattrall reportedly filmed the cameo on March 22 in New York City and did not see or speak with the other stars from the series, including Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis according to Variety.

She also apparently did not see the series creator Michael Patrick King at the time. 

However she was dressed by Sex and The City designer Patricia Field for the cameo. 

Samantha was previously worked into the first season of And Just Like That… with a text message exchange between her and Carrie. 

Cattrall was convinced to join And Just Like That with promise of ‘nice career boost and great payday’ by her ‘dear friend’ and producer Darren Star, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed earlier this week.

According to the well-placed insider, fans of the show can thank show creator Darren for Samantha’s upcoming return, with the source revealing that he was the one who convinced Kim that she needed to give the character a proper goodbye.

Kim’s decision to join the And Just Like That cast, even for just a short time, marks a big U-turn for the actress – who had previously insisted that she had no desire to be a part of the sequel in any way.

‘What made her finally fold to do it now? It was her connection with her dear friend Darren Star, who created Sex that kept asking her to be a part of the show that finally convinced her to do it,’ the insider shared.

‘Kim decided if she was ever going to button up the character and then not be asked about it again, she should do it now.

‘She is doing it for her friend Darren first. But she is also doing it as she realizes it will be a nice career boost and a great payday above all of that.

‘She got to an understanding with Darren that she needed an amazing send-off and they figured it out.

‘Everything has now fallen into place, Kim still can’t believe she was convinced to do it, but she is going to do it and let the scene speak for itself.

‘Sex And The City gave Kim so much, so she is giving the appropriate swan song and Kim hopes everyone is happy with the results.’

The source also touched on her frosty relationship with Sarah, revealing that while the two women have come to ‘an understanding’, there is likely no chance they will ever be friends in the future.

‘Kim and Sarah both have an understanding, but [as for] them being friends in the future, don’t hold your breath,’ they said.

In 2022 Parker confirmed that they ‘did not ask’ Cattrall to return while appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

‘She made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us,’ she said at the time.

In 2017, Cattrall called out her Sex and The City co-stars stating that they had ‘never been friends.’

‘This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City, and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker,’ she said to Piers Morgan on Life Stories.

‘I think she could’ve been nicer. I really think she could’ve been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.’
