Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth SPLIT! Actress announces ‘difficult decision’ to divorce – TWO days before their 12th wedding anniversary

Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth are divorcing, following almost 12 years of marriage.

The movie star, 47, shared the news via her Instagram Friday afternoon in a joint statement from her and Jim, 52 – days before their 12th wedding anniversary.

‘We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,’ the mom of three wrote. 

‘We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.’

Reese and Jim, who wed on March 26, 2011, share one son together – Tennessee James, 10; she has two children from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe: Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19.

Reese  and Jim continued in their statement: ‘Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal.’

‘We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy as this time – Reese and Jim.’ she concluded.  

A source told People magazine after the news was announced that Reese and Jim’s split is ‘amicable.’

‘They really are the best of friends and this is such an amicable decision. They are so committed to co-parenting together. They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone,’ the insider said. 

In July, Reese shared photos on Instagram of herself with Jim to mark his birthday, captioning the set: ‘Happy birthday to my sweet hubby, JT!

Don’t know anyone who loves Tour de France / road biking / @arsenal / @nashvillesc / @steelers …. oh and GOLF … basically all sports more than YOU. Love you so much!’

She also marked their 11th wedding anniversary last year on Instagram by saying in a post: ‘Happy Anniversary JT!! 11 years of adventures, love and laughter. I feel so lucky to share this wonderful life with you.’

Recalling their first meeting in a 2012 chat with Elle magazine, which happened at friend’s house after she had split from actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 42.

‘It happened out of the blue. This really drunk guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me. He was, like, ‘You don’t know me.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I know. I don’t know you!’

‘Jim came over and said, “Please excuse my friend. He’s just broken up with someone.”

‘Jim was a really good friend, pulling him out of that situation. That’s just kind of who he is, a really good person.’

She has also told People she loved him for being a ‘wonderful organizer’ and ‘a great leader’ who ‘knows how to get people together’ and stay ‘patient’ and ‘funny’ with children.

Reese and Jake broke up in December 2009 and she met Jim in January 2010; they got engaged in December 2010 and tied the knot on March 26, 2011 in Ojai.

Reese and first husband Ryan Phillippe met at her 21st birthday party, which took place in March 1997; They starred together in the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.

The stars got engaged in December 1998 and wed on June 5, 1999 in South Carolina; Reese and Ryan welcomed Ava in 1999 and Deacon in 2003.

Reese and Ryan announced their split in 2006, with their marriage legally dissolved in 2007 and their divorce finalized in 2008.
