Rachel Weisz stuns in a red halter gown as she arrives in style at premiere for her Amazon Prime miniseries Dead Ringers in New York

Rachel Weisz was a stunner in red as she arrived for the premiere of her new Amazon Prime series Dead Ringers on Monday night in New York.

The British actress, 53, showed off her flawless figure in a full-length halter gown while posing for photos at the Metrograph theater.

The beauty styled her long raven locks back from her face and falling sleekly down her back.

Weisz, who is married to James Bond star Daniel Craig, kept her makeup light with just a touch of mascara, blush and lip color.

The six-episode Dead Ringers is a gender-swapped adaptation of director David Cronenberg’s 1988 psychological thriller of the same name, which starred Jeremy Irons as twin gynecologists operating an infertility clinic. 

Weisz has revealed she was ‘obsessed’ with the original movie and that it was she who brought the idea of a female-led remake to Amazon.

Weisz has revealed she was ‘obsessed’ with the original movie and that it was she who brought the idea of a female-led remake to Amazon.

Joining Weisz on the red carpet were co-stars Emily Meade, Poppy Liu, Britne Oldford, Jennifer Ehle and Kitty Hawthorne along with series creator Alice Birch.

Meade, 34, looked stylish in a black dress with three-quarter sleeves and gold buttons on the bodice.

She wore her hair in an elegant updo and added a splash of color with scarlet lipstick.

Amazon first announced the project in August 2020, giving it a straight-to-series order, with production beginning in August 2021.

Set in New York, Weisz plays both Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes.

They team up to push the boundaries of medical ethics -in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. 

The key to the plot is the relationship between them, she explained.

She said: ‘Beverly is altruistic, thoughtful, careful, and kind. She wants to change the way women give birth.

‘Elliot is very, very different. She’s not altruistic and she’s pushing the boundaries of what’s ethical.’

Dead Ringers is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Annapurna Television, with series creator Alice Birch serving as the series showrunner and executive producer.

The original David Cronenberg film was adapted from the 1977 novel Twins by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland, which was loosely based on the true story of twin gynecologists Stewart and Cyril Marcus.

They were both found dead in July 1975 in separate rooms of Cyril’s Manhattan apartment at just 45 years of age, with Stewart dying of a barbiturate overdose and Cyril suspected of possibly taking his own life in a suicide pact after finding his brother dead.
