Lucifer star Tom Ellis and wife Meaghan Oppenheimer on Thursday announced that they had welcomed a baby daughter via surrogate.
The 44-year-old actor said in an Instagram post, ‘Our daughter Dolly Ellis-Oppenheimer was born on November 8th and within five hours of being alive, she single-handedly ended the SAG strike.’
The U.K. native added, ‘We love her. Huge thank you to our amazing surrogate.’
Oppenheimer, a 37-year-old screenwriter, shared the same message on her account, with an image of their daughter’s face, and Ellis holding her.
In a series of images on the social media site, the new parents were seen doting over their little one. Ellis was seen holding the baby in one pic, while the baby’s face was shown in another.

The veteran actor was subsequently seen in a clip on Oppenheimer’s Instagram Stories Thursday, as the newborn was nestled in a blanket on a cushion.
Dolly is Oppenheimer’s first child and Ellis’ fourth.
The Welsh actor is father to daughter Nora, 18, from a prior relationship; and to daughters Florence, 15, and Marnie, 11, from his former marriage to EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite, 53, who he was married to from 2006 until 2014.
Ellis first crossed paths with Oppenheimer in 2015 and they were engaged in 2017.
The couple exchanged vows in June of 2019 with Lucifer cast members in attendance such as Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt, D.B. Woodside, Aimee Garcia, Kevin Alejandro and Rachael Harris.
He said on social media at the time: ‘Thank you to everyone who made our special day so precious.’
Ellis in August of 2020 spoke with The Guardian about parenting, as he called it ‘excruciating’ from being separated from his children amid the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, as he was in Los Angeles while they live in the U.K.
‘There is a part of you that isn’t there when they’re not around,’ Ellis said. ‘Trying to remain positive while the world is falling apart and having your children away from you and not knowing you will see them was just … yeah.’

Ellis in 2016 told People that his kids were ‘the least impressed about any work that I do, which is quite amusing.
‘Time and time again, if I’m on the telly, I’ll go: “Look, it’s Dad on the telly,” and they’ll sort of look up, give it a cursory glance and then carry on with what they’re doing ’cause it really doesn’t faze them at all … they are my biggest fans as a dad but not as an actor.’
Ellis’ best known work has come on the series Lucifer, as he appeared as Lucifer Morningstar on 93 episodes of the series from 2016 to 2021.
Ellis has been a working actor for nearly 25 years, making his TV debut on the sitcom Kiss Me Kate in 2000. In the years since, he has been seen on shows such as EastEnders, Miranda, Rush, Suburban Shootout and Monday Monday.
Oppenheimer has written for a number of TV projects including Hulu’s Tell Me Lies, which she is the creator and showrunner on. She has also penned episodes for shows including Queen America and Fear the Walking Dead; and the films Broken and We Are Your Friends.
