Laverne Cox celebrates turning 51 in vintage designer ‘obligatory’ swimsuit and coat on Instagram

Laverne Cox took to Instagram on Monday to celebrate turning 51 in a vintage designer swimsuit.

The Emmy-nominated actress modeled a bathing suit and coat while celebrating her birthday with her roughly 6.5 million followers.

’51 years old today. Wow! Happy birthday to me. In this triumph or tragedy of the aging sex symbol, ( you pick) the obligatory birthday swimsuit is vintage @dior by @jgalliano s/s 2001,’ Laverne wrote in the caption.

‘And the coat is by my beloved @manfredthierrymugler f/w 1985. Finding this coat made me so very happy. I’m obsessed with vintage right now. Perhaps because I’m vintage. Lol,’ she added.

LaVerne concluded: ‘I feel like it’s a miracle that I’m still alive. To all my siblings out there, here’s to making it to another day despite all the efforts to keep us from doing so. Stay strong!! Hold on!!!’

The Orange Is The New Black star also included the hashtags #TransIsBeautiful and #BirthdayGirl in the post.

Laverne modeled the Dior swimsuit and Mugler jacket while wearing black heels and red lipstick.

The Alabama native played Sophia Burset in the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black from 2013 to 2019 and earned Emmy nominations for her recurring role on the show.

Laverne’s comedy series Clean Slate with George Wallace has been picked up by Amazon Freevee, according to an article last September by Deadline.

A release date has not yet been announced.

Laverne also has a starring role in the upcoming sci-fi action-fantasy film The Uglies featuring Joey King, 23, in the lead role.

The film is based on the 2005 novel Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.

The Uglies is intended to be released as a Netflix exclusive and a release date has not yet been released.
