Kristin Cavallari says raising daughter Saylor, seven, is ‘payback’ for her because the child is as ‘stubborn and tough’ as she used to be

Kristin Cavallari opened up about the ups and downs of raising her daughter, Saylor, while jokingly admitting that it is ‘payback for me.’ 

The Hills alum, 36, who recently showcased her fit physique in a skimpy black bikini for Memorial Day, opened up to Us Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, and stated that her seven-year-old mini-me was her ‘biggest parenting challenge.’ 

‘She is stubborn and she is tough. She’s definitely payback for me,’ the TV personality expressed, whose teenage ‘antics’ were portrayed on reality shows such as Laguna Beach. ‘My mom says we’re identical.’ 

The businesswoman also shares sons Camden, 10, and Jaxon, nine, with ex-husband, Jay Cutler, but revealed that Saylor is the star’s ‘hardest kid.’ 

During the difficult times, Kristin explained that she does her best to stay ‘calm’ in order to work ‘through’ any problems with her daughter.

Cavallari further stated to the outlet, ‘I think she is so tough, but really it’s those tough ones that usually need the most love. I just try to, like, kill her with kindness and just try to love on her as much as possible.’ 

The True Comfort author gave an example to a recent situation that had occurred while getting ready for school. 

‘I’m like, “How are we already in this mood today?” I’m like, “What is the deal? That’s a lot of emotion,”‘ she recalled. The media star revealed that Saylor has similar ‘sass’ to her own from when she was that age, saying, ‘I believe in karma.’ 

Despite experiencing a few ups and downs of parenting, Kristin explained that all of her children still create wonderful memories, and have even bonded in the kitchen. 

‘Saylor and I made muffins yesterday and she also helped me make dinner last night. The boys will watch these kids on YouTube making all kinds of stuff and then they wanna come in the kitchen and recreate it,’ the mother of three gushed. 

‘My oldest made lemon sorbet the other day. Jaxon…he’ll, like, fry up these donut things that are really good. I mean they love being in the kitchen, which I absolutely love.’ 

Kristin shares her three children with her ex and former Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler. The two first began dating in 2009 and later tied the knot in 2013. 

However, in April 2020, the pair announced their split and issued a statement on Instagram. Cavallari penned, ‘With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce.’

‘We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of,’ she continued to write at the time. 

‘This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.’ 

Their divorce was finalized in June 2022 and the former couple have joint custody of their children. 

Cavallari often uploads photos of Saylor, Jaxon, and Camden on social media, but refrains from showing their faces on camera to keep their privacy.

In April, during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, discussed her romantic life following her divorce from Jay. ‘I just have taken a stance that until I’m in a serious, committed relationship, there’s nothing to really report.’ 

The Uncommon James founder further explained, ‘This is the first time in my life I’ve really dated. I’ve always had boyfriends, I got married very young, so I am just enjoying it.’

Last year in August, the media personality revealed that she had gotten a breast lift after welcoming her third child.
