Katy Perry exudes glamour in a rhinestone-covered hooded black velvet gown at the Carol Burnett TV show special in Los Angeles

Katy Perry was the picture of glamour as she hit the red carpet at the Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love TV show special premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The California Gurls hitmaker, 38, dazzled in a fur-trimmed floor-length hooded black velvet gown, encrusted with silver rhinestones throughout.

The singer – who recently broke down in tears on American Idol – accessorized the stunning outfit with a pair of sparkling rhinestone tassel drop earrings.

Katy wore her black tresses slicked down in chic curls. As for glam, the star opted for dramatic lashes and a matte pink lipstick. 

Carol Burnett was honored at the event – set to air on NBC and Peacock on April 26, 2023 – which celebrated her 90th birthday and her illustrious career.

Perry was also seen mingling with actress Allison Janney, 63, who looked chic in a white dress and matching heels 

Other celebrities in attendance included Cher, Julie Andrews, Kristin Chenoweth, Kristen Wiig, Sofia Vergara, and Billy Porter to name just a few. 

Burnett is famous for her 1967 series The Carol Burnett Show, which ran for a total of nine seasons.

She also starred in Mama’s Family, The Garry Moore Show, The Four Seasons, Eunice, and many others. The Hollywood icon has received numerous awards, including six Emmys.

Perry’s appearance comes after she broke down crying on Sunday’s episode of American Idol, after contestant Trey Louis said a shooting at his high school motivated him to audition.

Trey ‘Trey from the Fe’ Louis, 21, a mattress salesman from Santa Fe, Texas, told the judges he was motivated to come on the show after surviving a school shooting in May 2018.

He was the last contestant to audition during the two-hour episode and the judges gave him a standing ovation after he performed Stone by Whiskey Myers.

‘I was in art room one and he shot up art room two before he made his way to art room one,’ Trey said. ‘Lost a lot of friends. Eight students were killed. Two teachers were killed. And it’s really been negative. Santa Fe’s just had a bad rap here since 2018.

Katy burst out crying as she buried her head in her hands. ‘Our country has f***ing failed us!’ Katy said. ‘This is not okay. You should be singing because you love music.’

‘Not because you had to go through that *****,’ Katy said. ‘You didn’t have to lose eight friends! I hope that you remind people that we have to change. Cause you know what, I’m scared, too.’

The emotional display came after her partner Orlando Bloom seemingly did some damage control, after candidly admitting that his relationship with his ‘baby mama and life partner’ Katy can be ‘really challenging.’

The 46-year-old actor took to Instagram last Tuesday to share a sweet snap of himself holding hands with the pop star.

The post came just days after the Pirates Of The Caribbean star revealed that his fiancee gets ‘stressed’ about the dangerous side of his job before making the aforementioned very candid relationship admission.

‘We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity, [but] I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment,’ she continued.

Bloom went on to tell Flaunt Magazine that tackling long-distance with the American Idol judge due to their demanding work schedules has been their biggest hurtle over the years.

He concluded: ‘Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie.’
