Katie Holmes is the picture of summer style in chic all-white ensemble on stroll through NYC

Despite being more than two weeks away from the official start of summer, Katie Holmes has been rolling out some of her favorite warm-weather pieces and ensembles since early spring.

And over the weekend the former Dawson’s Creek star was back at it again, with a couple more fashionable outfits that are not only stylish, in the casual-cool department, but also comfortable even when the temperatures begin to reach the scorching level.

On Sunday, the actress stepped out onto the bustling streets of Manhattan, seemingly on an errand run, in loose-fitting, breathable pants with a high-water design, considering they fell to the bottom of her calves.

Going for an all-white summer look, she also donned a matching sweater, with the sleeves rolled up a bit, that also had a loose fit, along with a white purse over her right shoulder.

For contrast, the Batman Begins actress slipped on a pair of black loafers, as well as stylish dark sunglasses.

The glasses were not only a fashion accessory, they also came in handy to help block out some of the glaring sun on a day where the temperature rose close to nearly 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The previous day, on Saturday, Holmes modeled another of her casual-cool ensemble that are also equally comfortable and summer-ready, consisting of beige cargo pants, a light brown sweater worn on top of a white t-shirt, and black sneakers.

In recent days, she’s also been seen out in a short denim skirt with a loose-fitting beige-patterned blouse and brown clogs.

Another of her stylish, warm-weather outfits showed her giving more than a hint of her toned midriff in a fitted black button-up cardigan with white, low-hanging pants and clogs once again.

She also showed off her penchant for warm-weather fashion while attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France in May.

But even before heading overseas, Holmes appeared to get her jump on spring and summer fashion with her choices of outfit she wore on her personal time and for work-relayed outings.

The Toledo, Ohio native moved to New York City soon after her split and eventual divorce from Tom Cruise in 2012, which was when their daughter Suri was about six-years-old.

Her decision to start over in such a massive metropolitan city was simple: she loved how much there was to do in the five boroughs, both day and night, for herself and Suri.

‘Yes, it’s a little too exposed at times, and we work hard to maneuver and navigate. But what I love about New York is that for me and my child, this is our vibe,’ she told InStyle in 2020. ‘When there are 25 things to do every night, it takes you out of your own thing.’

Initially, Holmes had to get creative when trying to keep prying photographers away from her little girl, which included waking up when many people, like the paparazzi, were still asleep.

‘We were followed a lot when [Suri] was little. I just wanted her outside, so I would walk her around to find parks at, like, six in the morning when nobody would see us,’ she explained. 

Known as one of those celebrities who leads a very private life, The Gift star tried to protect her daughter from the downside of fame, all while helping her become the woman she wanted to be.

‘My biggest goal has always been to nurture [Suri] into her individuality,’ the actress and director told InStyle in 2020. ‘To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it.’

 Now ,17, Suri has already started applying to colleges with the help of her mother, but the teen’s famous father is expected to take part in the search because the longtime Hollywood leading man ‘has no part’ in his child’s life. 

While she’s sending out applications to schools in different parts of the country, a  source close to Holmes tells DailyMail.com exclusively that Suri is ‘leaning towards’ studying fashion in New York City, a choice that would make her mom very pleased. 

Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise in June 2012 after five and a half years of marriage.
