For the first time since his horrifying snowplow accident on January 1, two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner was seen upright and walking on an anti-gravity treadmill during a physical therapy session on Sunday.
The 52-year-old California native – who broke over 30 bones – was seen explaining to Les Garland how the machine allows him to feel ‘less weight’ as though he’s walking with a cane or holding handlebars to keep him upright.
‘That’s seriously cool. And you’re totally doing the walking motion,’ Garland – who strategizes the delivery of Jeremy’s music to the world under Record Street Music – marveled.
Renner replied: ‘Correct, exactly. It’s 40 percent of my weight’
The Hawkeye action star – who boasts 37.1M social media followers – captioned his Twitter post: ‘I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will. #minduful #intended #recovery.’Â

Jeremy – who’s also been using a Technogym bike – has undergone two surgeries for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries since he was crushed by a 14,330lb snowplow on New Year’s Day near his Nevada home.
Renner’s near-fatal accident happened when he was using his plow to help clear the driveway so his nephew could retrieve his car, but the vehicle began to slide down the street so he exited the cab.
That’s when the Mayor of Kingstown producer-star realized his snowplow could hit his nephew, so he tried to re-enter the cab in order to divert its path but was pulled under its left side track and run over during the attempt.
This Monday, Jeremy and his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco will celebrate the 10th birthday of daughter Ava Berlin from their 10-month marriage, which ended back in 2015.
The 35-year-old realtor-sculpture artist welcomed her second child – daughter Wylder Rayne – with retired NHL player Nathan Thompson last Tuesday.
Audiences can next catch Renner executive producing and ‘reimagining unique purpose-built vehicles’ all over the world in the four-episode docu-series Rennervations, which premieres April 12 on Disney+.
The Muay Thai enthusiast will be eager to recover so he can perform some of his own stunts again on the big screen, which is ‘not beyond the realms of possibility.’
‘His ability to do stunts is, firstly, not going to return to him for many months and, secondly, he might not be quite as agile as he was previously, even if his physical exercise tolerance improves back to normal,’ Dr. Ron Daniels – an intensive care doctor from the UK – told DailyMail.com last month.

‘We tend to say to people who’ve survived severe injury in intensive care that you’ll be back to 90 percent of your normal self within about 12 to 18 months after you leave hospital.’
Daniels added that the fact that Jeremy – who’s said to be worth around $80M – will have ‘a large army of rehabilitation support’ around him means he might even recover quicker than a year.
‘He will suffer psychologically as well as physically and require support and rehabilitation for a period of many months after his injury to recover his full function,’ Ron continued.
‘Almost certainly, he will have a degree of pain and stiffness in the broken limbs, and chest wall stiffness following the chest trauma…I think the biggest [challenge] is going to be the PTSD that this will undoubtedly bring about.’
In terms of medication, Daniels said: ‘Whatever happened to Mr. Renner, he will have a need for at least the next several months for some fairly strong painkilling medications.’
This will be a combination of over-the-counter painkillers and ‘probably some strong opiates which will gradually be reduced over time.’
New York physiotherapist Dr. Karena Wu speculated that the SAG Award winner will require physical therapy, occupational therapy, and possibly even psychotherapy.
‘With so many systems and bones, muscles and tissues involved, Mr. Renner will probably be doing physical therapy at a minimum of three times a week to up to five times a week for at least several months to up towards a year,’ Dr. Wu told DailyMail.com.
This involves gentle stretches and exercises to gradually build back strength in the bones and muscles to regain movement.
