The dog James Kennedy shared with ex-fiancée Raquel Leviss is starting a new life with him now, so he decided to give the pup another name.
The 31-year-old revealed he had gotten custody of the pooch over the weekend while on a Vanderpump Rules cast trip to Lake Tahoe.
‘Look who made his way back home, back into my life, I’ll take care of you forever and I love you. ❤️,’ the reality star wrote next to photos of him and the dog on a hike.
Another photo showed the happy pooch sitting in James’ lap while he and girlfriend Abby Lewber were on a boat.
On Sunday, the DJ announced the goldendoodle would no longer be named Graham Cracker, Graham for short, but would be known henceforth and forever as Hippie.
Hippie is the name of the dog belonging to his late godfather George Michael.
New name: James Kennedy has renamed the dog he used to share with ex-fiancée Raquel Leviss, changing his name from Graham Cracker to Hippie in honor of the dog his late-godfather George Michael used to have
The Sunday Sessions host who let Raquel have the pup when they broke up in 2021, shared an adorable snap of his furry friend in Instagram stories to explain the new moniker.
‘We decided to rename this little beauty “Hippie,” he wrote, explaining that it was a tribute to another pooch with the same name who belonged to his late godfather, George Michael.
He said the Faith singer’s Hippie was ‘the only dog I saw around the house growing up.’
‘Although George and Hippie are in heaven now together,’ he concluded, ‘I know that they are watching over me now, a proud doggy papa!’
Apparently when Raquel, who has returned to her birth name Rachel, 28, went for treatment at a mental health facility in Arizona, she left the canine with her parents to look after.
Unfortunately, it was not a good mix.
Rachel’s mom told Entertainment Tonight, ‘While caring for him, [Graham] bit me to the bone, causing severe damage,’ Laura Leviss claimed.
She also accused the dog of biting her husband.
Reunited: James, 31, revealed on Instagram over the weekend that the pooch was back with him. ‘Look who made his way back home, back into my life, I’ll take care of you forever and I love you. ❤️’
Biting: The pup was being cared from by the Leviss family after Raquel, who now goes by Rachel, entered a treatment facility following the Scandoval. The former beauty queen’s mom said they surrendered him to a rescue group after he had bitten her severely
Graham/Hippie was surrendered to California Doodle Rescue in May, but according to Laura, he also bit the trainers who were working with him there.
After be surrendered again, after a would-be dog parent said he had bitten them, Lisa Vanderpump’s dog rescue organization, Vanderpump Dog Foundation was contacted and he was picked up on July 13.
The Levisses said the pooch was not dumped and they were promised if they couldn’t find a home for the pooch, he could live at the foundation for the rest of his life.
Negotiations: Rachel has made no comment about the dog’s re-homing, nor has she returned to Vanderpump Rules. She is reportedly in negotiations with the show’s producers to discuss her re-joining the cast
Rachel has yet to comment on Hippie’s re-homing or new name.
She has not spoken publicly since checking out of the health facility and has not returned to Vanderpump Rules yet.
The former beauty queen is reportedly in negotiations to return to the show.
Fellow reality star Bethenny Frankel has encouraged Rachel to get as much money as possible before stepping in front of the cameras.
‘The girl was a punching bag for everybody on every talk show in the entertainment industry,’ she told ET, adding Rachel ‘should be negotiating a contract that says … ‘I got dragged through the streets, and I was abused mentally.’
