Colin Farrell seen in full makeup as The Penguin on set in NYC just days before the Oscars where he’s nominated for The Banshees of Inisherin
Colin Farrell was seen filming up upcoming HBO Max limited series The Penguin on Tuesday in New York City, days before he’s set to attend the Academy Awards, where he’s nominated for Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin.
The Irish actor, 46, was pictured in full makeup on the set of the miniseries, in which he portrays the notorious comic book villain and his alter ego Oswald Cobblepot.
Farrell was clad in a brown leather trench coat over a purple jacket over a white button-up shirt with black pants and black leather dress shoes.
Farrell was made up in heavy prosthetics to replicate his look initially seen in last year’s The Batman motion picture, including a receding hairline on top.
Production on the show in the Big Apple featuring the Oscar-nominated actor kicked off earlier this week, as he was seen filming in the city on Monday.

The Penguin/Cobblepot will be the focal point of the eight-episode series on the miniseries, on which The Batman director Matt Reeves is an executive producer.
Farrell was seen filming a scene opposite costar Rhenzy Feliz, and seen sipping a cup of coffee in between takes.
Details on the storyline of the project remain scarce, as it is anticipated that the timeline will be in sync with where the film left off, following the death of Batman nemesis Carmine Falcone.
The cast in the project includes Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, as well as Shohreh Aghdashloo, Michael Kelly and Deirdre O’Connell.
Earlier this year, Farrell told Variety that he was not aware of a potential miniseries about the villainous character while making the 2022 film, but knew there was ample material to work with creatively and aesthetically.
‘The only thing I had an idea was that I wasn’t nearly getting to explore the character as much as I wanted to,’ he said while appearing at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.
He added: ‘I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more.
Farrell commended makeup and prosthetics artists Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine for the ‘extraordinary work’ they did in creating his look for the role.
