Ben Affleck ‘kind of disturbed’ by his wife Jennifer Lopez’s ‘love’ of Yellowstone series starring his buddy Cole Hauser

Turns out Jennifer Lopez was one of the 12.1M people breathlessly tuning into the fifth season of Paramount Network’s hit show Yellowstone as she’s ‘drawn to the romance between’ Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

‘Jen showed me a clip off of Instagram of a monologue [Beth] has in the car with the kid about the ways to become rich,’ her fourth husband Ben Affleck told The Bill Simmons Podcast on Tuesday.

‘And then [Jen] was like, “I love this story of these two.” I was like, “Wait a minute – with Cole Hauser? What do you love about it?”‘

Cole just so happens to be a very dear old friend of the Berkeley-born, Cambridge-raised 50-year-old’s and his BFF/frequent collaborator Matt Damon, who joined him on the podcast.

The Oscar-winning screenwriters played Massachusetts prep-school students alongside the 48-year-old SAG Award nominee in Robert Mandel’s 1992 drama School Ties about a student (Brendan Fraser) hiding his Jewish heritage in 1959.

Her fourth husband Ben Affleck (R, pictured February 5) told The Bill Simmons Podcast on Tuesday: ‘Jen showed me a clip off of Instagram of a monologue [Beth] has in the car with the kid about the ways to become rich. Ben reunited with Cole to play paddle-wielding high school seniors beating up incoming freshman in Richard Linklater’s 1993 teenage stoner comedy Dazed and Confused set in 1976.

Then Damon, Affleck, and Hauser all played combative South Boston buddies in Gus Van Sant’s 1997 genius janitor drama Good Will Hunting.

‘I was always mystified that Cole wasn’t a giant movie star,’ Matt marveled.

‘When we worked with him, he was 16, I’ll never forget. [Ben and I] were driving back into Boston…leaving set for the first week, driving into Cambridge, and we’re like…”Leaving me and you out, who’s the f***ing best actor here?” And both of us, at the same time, were like, “Hauser.” He was raw talent; just astonishing…and just the sweetest soul.’

The Deep Water producer agreed that his Santa Barbara-born pal is ‘very convincing as’ the Montana ranch foreman/enforcer in love with his powerful boss’ daughter: ‘I think America believes he is Rip.’

The final six episodes of the 14-episode fifth season of Taylor Sheridan and John Linson’s critically-acclaimed neo-Western drama will resume this summer on Paramount Network.

Meanwhile, Ben and Matt have been hard at work promoting their roles as Phil Knight and Sonny Vaccaro in Affleck’s critically-acclaimed sports drama Air, which hits US theaters April 5.

Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis also star in the movie about NBA legend Michael Jordan’s original Nike deal.
