Ashley Judd strides onto stage at Clinton Global Initiative after shattering leg in 2021 hiking accident

Ashley Judd after shattering her leg in a 2021 hiking accident walked the stage on Monday to deliver remarks at the Clinton Global Initiative conference in New York City.

The 55-year-old actress wore a long blue floral print dress with short sleeves as she took the stage after being introduced by Chelsea Clinton, 43.

Ashley showed a little leg with a small slit in her dress and completed her outfit with silver flats.

She accessorized with a earring, bracelets and ring for the event held at the Hilton Midtown Hotel.

Ashley had her dark hair down around her shoulders and accentuated her natural beauty with full makeup including rosy cheeks and pink lipstick.

Ashley also stood on the stage standing next to Chelsea as Hillary Clinton, 75, addressed the audience.

The Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) also spoke at a podium during the event.

Ashley in August gave fans a health update on Instagram and shared that she was walking again after suffering the serious leg injury in February 2021.

She posted images of herself standing and walking in Switzerland.

Ashley wrote in a caption, ‘Walking. Switzerland. After 5 breaks in right leg, a paralyzed foot, possible amputation, all while hemorrhaging, my leg and I have come far in 2.5 years since my accident in Democratic Republic of Congo.’

The carousel of images featured the star smiling from ear-to-ear as she stood in front of a waterfall in the Alps.

‘We came far up these Alps, for the sheer joy of it, confidently. Ongoing gratitude of profound proportions to the Congolese who saved me, and the surgeons, neurologist, and physical therapist who set me up for this stunning recovery,’ Ashley added in the note.

She then asked her audience, ‘How are you celebrating your blessings?’

Ashley in a recent essay in The New York Times described finding her mother, country star Naomi Judd, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The actress wrote how her mother’s suicide in April 2022 was ‘the most shattering day of my life.’

‘The trauma of discovering and then holding her laboring body haunts my nights,’ she wrote.

The need to ‘Keep Going’ is the theme of this year’s Clinton Global Initiative, or CGI, as Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary, and Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea have convened political, business and philanthropic leaders to build on the momentum of the conference´s return last year after a six-year hiatus.

‘Giving up and giving in is a surefire guarantee that we will not make progress on the major challenges that face us,’ Bill Clinton said in his opening statement. ‘Being distracted and majoring in the minors may be momentary good policy, but it´s a terrible way to run a railroad – or a country.’

CGI announced numerous new programs Monday that it hopes will gather new monetary commitments and engagement, including gender equality and continued support for the people of Ukraine.

Hillary Clinton announced that gender equality will now be the fourth pillar of CGI’s activities, along with fighting climate change, economic inclusion and public health issues.

‘It is time to close the wage gap once and for all,’ Hillary Clinton said. ‘It is time to protect and expand access to reproductive health care, abortion and quality maternity care once and for all. It is time to ensure that every girl everywhere can get the education she deserves.

CGI plans to announce the launch of the CGI Ukraine Action Network, as well as numerous financial pledges, to support nonprofits working in the country.

The CGI Ukraine Action Network is the result of a collaboration between Hillary Clinton and Olena Zelenska, first lady of Ukraine, that began last year. The new organization, which will be formally announced Tuesday, is designed to mobilize existing CGI partners, as well as new leaders from around the world, to create and finance new commitments for Ukrainians, according to CGI. Numerous monetary commitments for Ukraine are also set to be announced Tuesday.

In 2022, CGI announced more than 140 commitments, including a $1 billion plan from Water.org, co-founded by actor Matt Damon, to help 100 million people in Africa, Asia and Latin America get lasting access to water and sanitation. This year, leaders including World Bank President Ajay Banga, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres and Ford Foundation CEO Darren Walker, will attend and make their own commitments, which are required for attendance at the conference.
