Dear Rush,
We miss you. We have many strong Americans trying to do everything, or most things at least, right. However, the political machine of the Left is running its engines so loud we are simply being drowned out in our exhortations. The Golden mic is silent.
We know you are still watching. I imagine your impish smile turned up in amusement since you can truly see the “rest of the story.” By the way, please give my regards to Mr. Harvey. But I go astray.
Seeking a “What Would Rush Do (WWRD)” mindset, I turned to your past speeches and shows. Going all the way back to your CPAC Speech in 2009. The thing is, you already answered all these issues of today. You warned what the Democrat Left would do if they only could. Now they can, and now they are.
Here’s what baffles me though, the Left is destroying our America even though we feel like we were paying attention. We did go vote according to principles, American values and such. I began listening to your program the day the planes hit the towers. I was an uneducated yet educated Independent Liberal at the time…and I was very young.
I remember my early days listening to you. I thought you were a misogynistic jerk, but I kept listening. Our first one sided conversations were deeply passionate arguments about women, of which I am one. Oh, but time proved you wiser than I. I came to understand you and your all-inclusivity theology. Meaning everyone’s welcome to the conversation, just come able to defend your history, logic and reasoning of your choices. Who gives a damn what you look like!
Looking back at that CPAC speech, you spoke of the “drive-by media” depicting us as “racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe(s).” As Conservatives, we are simply people with similar opinions and values and ideas of what it means to be historically American, of all races. In Rush’s words: “We love people. When we look out over the United States of America, when we are anywhere, when we see a group of people, such as this or anywhere, we see Americans. We see human beings. We don’t see groups. We don’t see victims. We don’t see people we want to exploit.” Again, that was in 2009!
And in writing this letter, I hear a faint answer in your words. Just as I once was a young Independent Liberal with so much to learn, there are so many others still. We have to be individual Rush-like people for all those youthful in thinking and mind who are looking for answers now or will look for answers someday. Those values, opinions and ideas that have carried us individually to this point in our lives as Americans must hold firm. And we must hold to those beliefs and have faith that truth does win out.
I can hear you telling us don’t give up.
Thank you Rush.
With love,
Kandice Cox
