Chad Van Swol, a 43-year-old man from Burlington, Wisconsin, tried to meet up with a 15-year-old girl using the popular app “Whisper.” Chad worked hard, telling the girl that he “didn’t want to get in trouble.” It’s funny how that works because he immediately began chatting about sex acts. Chad, confident he could get away with molesting a young teenager, picked up lunch and some condoms (because who eats without condoms?) and drove to the Pike River Pathway in Mount Pleasant.
Excited to meet his soon-to-be victim, Chad’s fantasy adventure came to a screeching halt when the fifteen-year-old girl turned out to be Sheriff Christopher Schmaling and others from the Racine County Criminal Investigations Bureau in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Milwaukee Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Thankfully, a dangerous pedophile is off the streets of Wisconsin for now.
Why do I say for now?
Because bail for this crime is only 25,000 dollars. In Wisconsin, this is only a class C felony which carries, at most, a few dozen years and a 100,000 dollar fine.
Pedophiles have zero incentive to not be pedophiles in the state of Wisconsin.
