Waking up in a cold sweat, entire body shaking, crying one minute laughing the next, can’t sleep, can’t focus, gaining weight, tired all the time…I need my next fix! No, I’m not talking about cocaine or heroin withdrawals. I’m talking about getting off Adderall.
Why is it OK to take Adderall at the advisement of a physician but Cocaine is an issue?
Let’s look into the differences, shall we…
One is the chemically synthesized cocaine plant while the other is a natural plant extract.
One is pushed on everyone from little kids to adults while the other is pushed on people labeled “addicts.”
One artificially creates the reaction one would get from speed while the other naturally creates the reaction one would get from speed.
One is addictive while the other is…addictive
One creates a physical addiction that wreaks havoc on the body and makes it impossible to get off safely while the other…creates a physical addiction that wreaks havoc on the body and makes it impossible to get off safely.
One is prescribed by a doctor and easily controlled by the government while the other one is also very easy to get and the government seems to be helping supply it to our streets.
So, why do we not just go out and get some Cocaine? Cut out the middleman. We convince ourselves that we are doing it the “right” way. Go to our doctor, get the script, and go to the pharmacy and pick up the drugs. For our whole lives we were told to trust the physicians because they must know better. They went to 16+ years of school…I mean they had to learn something right?!
After studying holistic medicine and working with patients detoxing from perception drugs, I can tell you firsthand that this is not the healthy route to take in life. Dressing up harmful chemicals in prescription packaging does not make it any less addictive or harmful. I can’t stress how important it is to pick the right medical professionals for your medical needs. Research and be sure to pick someone that really listens and hears you! Someone that takes the time to answer your questions.
